What is Advanced Electrolysis
Advanced Electrolysis is a comfortable and effective procedure used for the removal of cosmetic imperfections.
How does it work?
A tiny, sterile needle is carefully inserted into, or beside, the skin area that is being treated passing a very small current of energy to cauterise the affected area. This ‘dries up’ the vessels that feed into the area of concern, leading to a visible reduction in the appearance of the blemish. The blemish will either be removed straight away or may take a few days to shrink away. In some cases, a topical anesthetic cream or small injection to numb the area may be used if necessary.
There are over 21 different types of blemishes that can be safely and effectively treated using Advanced Electrolysis which include:
- Spider veins
- Campbell de Morgans (cherry angiomas - a small bright red dome-shaped bump on the skin)
- Skin tags
- Milia (small white bumps under the skin)
- All types of warts including common, seborrheic, plantar (verucca)
- Small sebaceous cyst
Who is suitable for the treatment?
Advanced Electrolysis is suitable for all skin types. If you are in general good health, there are very few reasons why you should not be able to undergo this treatment.
Is it safe?
Yes, it is a safe treatment, however, it must be performed by a trained medical professional.
How long will the effect last?
Most blemishes, once treated will not return. However, there is always the possibility that the blemish will re-grow, or others may appear in the same area. If this is the case, repeat treatments may be required.
How long does it take?
You will initially have a full consultation to include a medical questionnaire, and a thorough examination of the blemish to ensure that it is safe to be removed. Once this has been completed the actual treatment generally takes no more than 30 minutes. If there is any suspicion that the blemish needs further examination, then you will be asked to see your own GP or you can be referred to our plastic surgeon.
