HOW DOES DERMAL FILLER HELP TO ENHANCE CHIN AND JAW LINE?
As we get older, sagging of skin around the lower cheek may cause two small indentations over the jawline directly below the outside corners of the mouth. Sometimes, these indentations disrupt the smooth skin around the jawline and may give it a slight 'S' shape. This is medically termed "pre-jowl sulcus".
This is where non-invasive treatments such as dermal filler injections come in. If the sag is mild to moderate, dermal fillers can easily correct the problem, smoothening the jawline from ear to chin.
WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?
A topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the treatment area about 20 to 30 minutes before the procedure. A measured quantity of dermal filler is injected into precise locations on your skin. A gentle massage then ensures that the product is distributed smoothly and evenly. As with any type of filler, you should avoid touching or applying any makeup to the treated area for at least 4 hours to minimise the risk of infection.
The results are immediately visible and last from 6 to 18 months (depending on the product used), varying from person to person. The temporary nature of the treatment allows us to make adjustments as your face changes over time to maintain a natural appearance.
IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECT?
Injection-related side effects may manifest as swelling, redness, pain, itching, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site. Fortunately, these usually resolve spontaneously in less than 10 days. We DO NOT advise dermal fillers to be used during pregnancy.
HOW DO I AVOID BRUISING?
To avoid swelling and bruising, you should:
-
Avoid exercise except for walking for 24 hours after the procedure
-
Avoid alcohol intake for 24 hours following the procedure
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULT LAST?
Depending on the products used, the positive results may last between 9-22 months. The length of time of the results varies depending on the individual. We will formularise a follow-up plan to maintain the initial results. There is always the option to further refine future injections to your personal tastes and preferences due to the non-permanent nature of the treatments.
